Former Prime Minister Bruce Golding, says the recent referenda in two CARICOM countries to reject the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) as their final appellate court will force other countries to reconsider their position on the regional court.
Grenada and Antigua and Barbuda both voted yesterday to reject the CCJ as their final court of appeal.
Mr. Golding says the results of the referenda will cause Caribbean leaders to weigh their options going forward.
In the meantime, Mr. Golding says he doesn’t believe there’s been any significant public education campaign in Jamaica that would aid the public’s decision if there were to be a similar referendum locally.
