Former North Trelawny MP, Wendell Stewart has died

Former Member of Parliament for North Trelawny, Wendell Stewart has died.

Reports are that Mr. Stewart died at his home in Trelawny early this morning (November 10).

He was ailing for some time.

Mr. Stewart, served as the political representative for North Trelawny from 1997 until 2002, when he was replaced by Patrick Harris.

He was the founding member and president of Falmouth’s original youth club, The Conquerors, which contributed to the development of Falmouth through sports, welfare and preservation of its Georgian heritage.

During his tenure as MP, Mr. Stewart also founded the Wendell Stewart Basic School in New Cargen.

He has been hailed by Opposition Senator Lambert Brown as a great and humble servant of his people.
