Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, Paula Llewellyn, is raising concerns about several children being murdered and sexually assaulted.
Ms Llewellyn is also calling on the media and politicians, to call out people for poor parenting.
And she’s urging the Police to prosecute such parents.
She was addressing a Rotary Club of Kingston meeting yesterday at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.
Rashona Fitz Henley reports.
Rampant attacks against children continue, even as the country recognizes May as Child’s month.
The latest young victims are 17 year old student of May Pen High School, Stefica Smith and 15 year old student of Camperdown High School, Jevaughn Morris.
The DPP says many young girls who are sexually abused and murdered, were targeted by persons they know.
And she’s blaming poor parenting for many unfortunate incidents involving children, such as fires.
She wants the media, politicians and other stakeholders to demand better from parents.
And the DPP wants the police to act decisively in prosecuting them.
