A Chinese business operator was set free yesterday after facing the court for assaulting a child.
The 53 -year old woman, Yuemei Pan, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm for the violent incident which happened in early December last year.
The incident, which happened in Trelawny, was caught on camera.
Acting Head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, CCU, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Dahlia Garrick, says the child was a customer at the woman’s grocery store.
She says the woman accused the child of stealing and assaulted her.
ASP Garrick says the case was closed yesterday.
This, she says, after the child’s mother refused to pursue the court matter any further.
