Chinese Ambassador Hails Partnership With Jamaica

Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica Tian Qi has hailed the partnership between Jamaica and the people’s republic of China.

The Chinese ambassador was speaking this morning at the naming of the Edward Seaga Highway, formerly the North South Highway.

The highway which was started by French company Bougues was completed by the Chinese under a multi-year concession agreement.

The Chinese ambassador says the relationship between the two countries will only grow in the coming years.

The Chinese ambassador underscored that Chinese firms are obligated to operate within the legal context of their hosts.

And Culture Minister Olivia Grange lauded former Prime Minister Edward Seaga for his foresight and purposefulness.

The culture minister was speaking this morning at the renaming of the North South Highway as the Edward Seaga Highway.

Ms Grange told the gathering that the link between the North and South was always a dream of Mr Seaga.

She stated for all the many accomplishments of Mr Seaga, he was worthy of the honour that was being bestowed on him in the naming of the highway for him.

Ms Grange credited him with opening up the media landscape.
