Jamaica College (JC) celebrated their 30th Manning Cup title in fine style with a special ceremony at the Karl Hendricks Auditorium on the compound this morning.

With students and faculty present, Principal Wayne Robinson congratulated the team on their achievements and declared that the title has a permanent home at the school.

“The Manning Cup, gentleman belongs to us!” Robinson declared.

Captain Tyrese Small, who praised his team and the staff, said he was pleased to see the title return to the school after their five consecutive title run between 2013 and 2017.

Rival Kingston College won the title last year.

“It’s a great feeling to see that the Manning Cup is back at 189 Old Hope Road. I’m happy to see that the whole Jamaica College community is happy. Thank you guys for the support,” he said.

JC defeated St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS ) 5-4 in a penalty shootout in Friday’s final at the National Stadium after both teams finished 0-0 in regulation.

It was the second time in three years that both teams met for the title with JC also winning on penalties in 2017.

JC head coach Davion Ferguson equalled Miguel Coley’s feat of winning the title in their debut seasons.

The “Dark Blues” will battle for all-island supremacy when they face back-to-back DaCosta Cup champions Clarendon College in the Olivier Shield final this Saturday at the National Stadium.
