The passengers were reportedly told to get off the bus and, while leaving the bus, several of them were mowed down by another vehicle, a Nissan Bluebird, that ran off the road.

Student Stabbed at Norman Manley High School, Lung Punctured

Classes were disrupted at Norman Manley High School in St Andrew on Monday morning after the stabbing of a grade nine student at the institution, allegedly by a grade 11 pupil.

The victim, with a lung reportedly punctured, was rushed to hospital, where he was admitted in a serious but stable condition.

The other boy fled the school compound.

The Hunts Bay police are investigating the incident.

Indications are that the alleged attacker was not supposed to be at school on Monday, the 11th graders having completed their term’s work, but a fuss between the two students outside of the school space reportedly lured him onto the compound.

Further indications are that violent altercations have, over time, become a periodic feature of the interaction among some students at the school.

Monday’s incident was the latest of a string of similar stabbings – some fatal – among both boys and girls at a number of high schools across the country over recent months, the last prior incident being recorded about two weeks before at Porus High School in Manchester, where a fatality was involved.
